Russia kills civilians in Ukraine almost every day with air strikes. Some attacks are particularly devastating and suddenly cost several people – like now in Sumy. Many people are also injured – including a little girl.

According to the local authorities, nine people were killed in a Russian drone attack in the eastern Ukrainian city of Sumy. Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj described the attack at X as “terrible Russian crime”. The public prosecutor said that there were three couples between the ages of 61 and 74 among the fatalities, as well as an older man and a 37-year-old woman. Among the thirteen injuries is the 8-year-old daughter of the 37-year-old.

According to the Interior Ministry, the attack had hit a residential building in Sumy. There was a large hole in the outer wall of a multi -storey building on emergency services. Emergency forces searched for survivors in the ruins. The city of Sumy near the Russian border is regularly hit by Russian air strikes. Before the Ukraine War, around 255,000 people lived in the city.

The Russian head of state Vladimir Putin claims “that he is ready for negotiations, but that's what he is actually doing,” said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha with a view to attack in Sumy in online networks.

In the southern Black Sea region Odessa, Russia, according to the authorities, attacked the port city of Ismail with drones. The head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, Andrij Jermak, accused Russia of giving the Shahed drones with shrapping charges to “increase the number of civilian victims”. A dead and twelve injured, including two children, were reported to several Russian attacks from the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk.
