Moscow is trying to protect its battle tanks from Ukrainian drones using metal cages. Now Russian designers are transferring the concept to motorcycles. A drone video from the battlefield shows the effectiveness of such a construction.

Drones are a constant threat on the front lines in Ukraine. The need to protect against attacks from the air sometimes leads to unusual developments such as the Russian turtle shell. The latest curiosity is reported by the pro-Ukrainian portal Defense Express. According to the report, Moscow's troops are now equipping motorcycles with metal anti-drone cages, in addition to battle tanks.

As an example, the portal cites a video from the Ukrainian drone group 90/81 Apachi of the 81st Airborne Brigade. It shows how an FPV drone approaches a modified motorcycle from behind, then an explosion occurs. From another camera angle, it is possible to see a person running away from the scene of the explosion. The construction seems to have saved her life.

It is unclear how many people the motorcycle was carrying, as a tarpaulin mounted over the two-wheeler obscures the view. The drone unit did not disclose when and where exactly the footage was taken. 90/81 Apachi published the clip on Thursday evening. The 81st Airborne Brigade says it is currently fighting near the settlement of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region.

According to Defence News, Russian military bloggers reported a few days ago that motorcycles were being equipped with anti-drone cages. The portal speculates that the trend could continue and intensify within the army, similar to the turtle shell phenomenon.

Russia's military uses motorcycles for both logistical tasks and attacks. In April, videos appeared of Russian soldiers on motorcycles racing toward Ukrainian positions. The motorcycle fighters of the “Zarya” battalion later boasted to the TV channel Russia 1 that they had surprised the Ukrainians in their position and forced them to flee. The information cannot be independently verified.
